I’ve thought about writing a blog for some time coming now. I like writing but wasn’t the most comfortable with talking about myself and well…broadcasting it to the whole entire world.
Recently I started working as a school counsellor at a junior college in Singapore. I like what I’m doing a great deal though I suppose it’s abit bizarre to say I love counselling people because sometimes there’s alot of pain and sadness that I’d rather no one have to experience. Although counselling can have a positive and motivating side to it. Anyways, I’m digressing. I realize I have alot of things I would like to say to my students, or rather there are alot of things I would like them to know. Yet I’m conscious that JC students have very little time and far less patience. I also want to get to know the students more apart from them coming to make an appointment with me at the counselling room. But I’m not exactly the best at chatting up students along the corridor or schmoozing up next to students at the canteen and ask ‘how’s the mee siam? are you stressed? you wanna talk?’ etc.
Hence this blog. I hope with this blog, my students will get to know me more not just as their school counsellor but also as a person with a life.
I also hope they would learn much from the different topics I hope to cover on issues on youths for youths. Feel free to comment on the blog and let me hear your voice. This blog is very much dedicated to you.
